If you're like me, you love crafting - easy or tough.
But, it's easy to run out of ways to be creative and stay affordable so that the kids education fund can be contributed too on a regular basis.
This spider craft didn't take long and was definitely simple enough for my 2-year old to get messy and stay creative. Cue an opportunity to work on learning their colours too!
For this one, all you need to do is take a trip to your local dollar store if you don't have these things at home.
Playing with the paint and eye balls along with bending pipe cleaners = magical
My adding an extra eyeball wasn't exactly a winning moment. My toddler shouted "No! 2 eye balls!".
I guess I may have been out of line... Little does she know, they often have 8+ eyes.
*Perhaps something to modify for this activity next time: Bigger Pom-Poms for more eyeballs.
Supplies:
Pom-Poms
Pipe Cleaners
Googly Eyes
Styrofoam Balls
Paint & Paint Brushes
Hot Glue Gun
Disposable Tablecloth
Empty Egg Carton(s)
Scissors
How to do it:
To start, take the desired styrofoam balls and get painting! We bought 2 colours for some variation. *I made sure to get a cheap throw away table cloth to protect my table
After they were painted we used an old egg carton to set the balls on so they didn't roll around and the bottoms could dry. This could be doubled as your paint tray too
Let Dry
Warm up the hot glue gun
Gather your pom-poms and eye balls. Select what sort of eyes you want on what balls. We did some small, extra large, split eyes and a 3-eyed spider head. Lots of fun for the little ones to have the freedom of choice here!
Glue the eyes onto the pom-poms.
Get pipe cleaners and cut in half (depending on length). Ours were far too long to use as they were, so cutting was necessary to get them around 6 inches in length or less.
Once the paint is dry stick the pipe cleaners in as legs (4 per side of course). My little lady had a fun time choosing what colours for what balls and how to match them up
Glue the head onto the body
That's it!
Now we have enough to share with friends and family.
My daughter handed these out over Thanksgiving!
