THE LIVESTOCK WE RAISE

We like to dabble in a few areas at the same time supporting the concept of diverse farming.

We have found our animals are able to share spaces and contribute to a great system of biodiversity while using a holistic farming model. Microbiome health affects our macro species and thus, our food quality.

  • Sheep: We have 120 Ewes, 5 rams and 90 lambs (and counting!)

    • lambs need to be 50+ pounds for market.

    • we aim to lamb in a few groups including seasonally and on pasture

    • we sell 100% pasture raised lamb here

  • Cattle: We have had cow-calf, fat cattle and heffers.

    • We pasture them in the good weather (including the winter)

    • We do rotational grazing and utilize cover crops to improve soil composition and microbiome health

    • We sell these directly from the farm - click here

  • Hens: We have laying hens that run free range (including the winter).

    • They are also pastured and follow the cattle and sheep through the pasture

    • They supply us with the eggs we eat each and every day!

    • Free range eggs are sold from the farm spring-fall and will soon be including blue edible eggs! (get ready for Easter!)

  • Chickens: We pasture raise them in a safety enclosure free from predators and only over the summer so we can stick to the grazing system (and winters in Ontario are cold and snowy!)

    • They're able to eat everything growing in the pasture following the cattle for an extra treat and adding to the natural composting system

    • We sell these directly from the farm - click here

  • Ducks: We have access to a pond that spans approximately 60x100 feet where we have seasonally introduced a handful of ducks. They have everything they need to survive naturally and we sell these farm-gate posted here

  • Turkey: We have grown our own turkey for our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners but do not have any for 2020
